Smart Home Ready: How to prepare your home for the future?
Building a house is a marathon of decisions. We know that in the raw stage your mind is occupied by plasters, windows, and the roof. However, right now is the best (and cheapest!) moment to prepare the building for smart systems.
The 'Smart Home Ready' Concept
The concept relies on putting correct cabling (Ethernet / KNX bus cables) behind the plaster during the raw building phase, without purchasing expensive controllers on day one. This makes the building ready for automation later on, without needing to spend a fortune immediately.
What should be planned right now?
- Bus cabling loop: Connecting wall switch boxes in a single line, allowing future mounting of KNX sensors.
- Roller blind wiring: Running 4-wire cables from the fuse board directly to each window motor slot.
- Deep wall boxes: Using 80mm deep boxes gives space for future in-box wireless or wired relays.
